Early life

I was born in Reno, NV and moved to Las Vegas when I was a kid. I graduated high school from Sierra Vista High School in 2006 and played baseball during my time there. After graduating with an Honors Diploma, I began pursuing a degree in Biology staying in Las Vegas at UNLV.

US Army

After graduating, I decided to join the US Army. I went through OSUT at Fort Benning, GA and completed Army Airborne School after graduation. Following this, I was transferred to Fort Bragg, NC. I enjoyed my time there, attending some amazing training courses and meeting even more amazing people. We spent many weekends traveling around the state, through Raleigh, Wilmington, Charlotte, Ashville, and along the eastern coast.

I view the Army as one of the most important experiences I’ve had. I learned a great deal about myself, and know that I won’t quit in the toughest situations. I also learned a great deal about leadership and taking initiative. I was officially honorably discharged on January 1, 2015 and returned to Las Vegas.

Return to Las Vegas

Not long after returning, my son was born. I decided to return to school at UNLV to complete a degree in Computer Science. While enrolled, I was lucky enough to be accepted for an System Administrator position within the Department, where I learned a great deal from my boss and mentor. Shortly after completing my degree, my boss' position became vacant and I was encouraged to apply for the position. I began by modernizing the servers and services we ran, including adding new ones to help students learn with modern technologies. I enjoyed working with faculty and students to run their code in a variety of languages and environments in a stable and secure way.

In the summer of 2022, I changed industries to work as an Infrastructure Engineer for Files.com. I enjoy problem solving and learning new things.

I completed a dual-master’s MBA/MIS program at UNLV in the Fall 2023 semester.
